Valentine's Day is...

Before you say Valentine’s Day is overrated, we want to kindly give you a different point of view. Chocolate and flowers can feel overdone, true! So this year, let’s strive to make this February the 14th a bit more unique. Doing something a little more creative can help show your main squeeze how much they really mean to you. As a bonus, our Valentine’s ideas are budget-friendly too, proving that a great date doesn't have to break the bank.

Make a bucket list
Spend the day together and come up with a bucket list of everything you'd like to do together —from a romantic vacation or day trip, to taking up new hobbies you want to enjoy together as a couple. Do you have some couple goals you wish to achieve this year? Dreaming after all is a form of planning and planning the future together can be so fulfilling.

Make a scrap book
Even partners who aren't so into crafts will get a kick out of this truly fun activity. Gather up photos of your relationship, old ticket stubs, and meaningful receipts or that thoughtful note on a post-it and make a beautiful book that you'll both treasure! We noticed going through fun memories together will bring back the joy you had almost just as much as when you actually experienced those moments. We guarantee you, this is fun!

Eat Breakfast in bed
Whip up a delicious breakfast on Valentine's Day and enjoy it lounging in bed or cuddled up on your sofa. It will be a nice change of pace from the usual morning hustle and bustle most of us experience Monday thru Friday. Find some yummy ideas here.

Write a Love letter to each other
If you've never done it before, now's the time to put it in writing. Write down why your partner is so special to you. Tell them which of their qualities you most admire and adore, how they make you feel, and why you fell in love with them in the first place. For added oomph, you can also use special stationery or a beautiful card. Or just use pretty paper and a colored pen, to make the letter feel more special - spritz a tiny amount of perfume or cologne all over the letter before you deliver it to your loved one… smell can enhance the experience reading the letter.

Do you need a helping hand with writing that special love note or thoughtful card but can’t quite do it on your own? No problem at all! Town & Country magazine has some cute quotes that might help you.

Slow dance with your special someone
We all have a song that reminds us of that wonderful time when we fell in love with our partner,…or many songs indeed! The early days of butterflies in your stomach when you were both nervous and giggly, and holding hands. The first kiss and even the first fight over the silliest issue but making up as quickly as the fight came up… Oh, how lovely it was and maybe/hopefully still is!

Bring back those days by putting on your favorite songs and slow dancing to it —  in the kitchen, living room, back yard or wherever really!

Valentine’s Day is only a day, but you certainly will not regret going the extra mile for your significant other or favorite human. So, whatever you choose for February 14th, make it count.

XO,
Deluvia
